Edra’s furniture looks like something director Tim Burton would love. Who better to appreciate a 2009 collection with such bold and unusual creations as the Leatherworks armchair made from erratic patches of alligator leather, the Capriccio living-room table that resembles a single steel tube gone mad, or the Cipria settee with nine irregular cushions that form a kaleidoscope of fabric set to seemingly come alive?

The maestro of this firm’s power and respect in the industry is art director Massimo Morozzi, who in addition to his duties with Edra is an architect, speaker, and designer for various projects with major companies like Nissan, Fiam, Sinesti, and Alessi.

The eclectic group of designers he helms bears no concern for the reactions of more traditional critics and customers who scoff at the firm’s “gentle monsters.”

Whether the artisans of this motley cluster of furnishings laughs out loud or simply smiles when introducing new models is irrelevant. Twenty years of steady success proves the joke is clearly on us, since Morozzi’s erratic vision for creative design attracts a viable market share of devotees.
