A studio owned by photographer on the house boat on Stony Lake is a re-imagination of greenhouse basic pattern in the landscape in the Canadian Shield. A continuation of thinking about this architectural ambition, the central concept of home is re-conceived through a contemporary lens of sustainability, the program, site, and convenience. Simple attractive quality, open space, interior and exterior unity and clarity of the material transformed to improve environmental performance and building program, creating both resonance iconic architecture and innovative design-driven context.
Compact form of glass sitting on the edge of the water in the base a matte black granite facade dematerializes to suspend the building, lantern-like, on the site. Granite mass exploitation of the abundant solar heat input, eliminating the need for systems that are active in the days of winter, when the site allows the use of the exchange in the lake water to heat and cool the sustainable boathouse design throughout the year through the slab perimeter louvers luminous and hidden in the floor and ceiling .
Slide the glass panel in the skin-three meters on the ground floor, and one-half feet on the floor mezzanine facade became fully-porous allowing for natural ventilation, while the automated system of individual blind, white roof, and deciduous fence guard against excessive solar gain. Blind system continuously serves as an aesthetic addition to a second skin, change the interior of the room, enclosed intimate, and the exterior becomes a mirror reflecting the surrounding soft.
