Recycle! It’s really easy and makes a huge difference. Recycling just one aluminum soda can saves enough energy to power your TV for three hours. The energy saved from recycling one glass bottle could power a 100-watt bulb for four hours!

If every American recycled the morning newspaper, 41,000 trees would be saved and six million tons of waste ?would stay out of landfills.

Want to keep hydrated during the day? Take a reusable water bottle with you! Plastic water bottles take 700 years to decompose in landfills.

If you are planning to purchase new materials for your home, consider bamboo, cork or natural linoleum flooring; FSC-certified wood cabinets; recycled glass tiles, recycled paper countertops, and many other readily available, eco-friendly materials.

Bring your own cup to your favorite coffee shop or if you are staying, ask for a “for-here” mug. It makes enjoying a hot brew so much more civilized, plus, if you enjoy one cup a day, that’s 365 less cups in the landfill. Tell a friend to do the same. Watch the math!

Compost fruit and veggie scraps, paper scraps, coffee and tea grounds, eggshells and more. It’s easy, saves ?garbage from the landfill and helps your garden to grow!

Buy vintage/recycled clothing. Many designers are creating hot new fashions with reused and recycled materials Shop thrift shops. Donate your gently used items.
