OK, this one’s a little creepy. The good folks at 1-800-Autopsy, based in Los Angeles, found a creative way to make art from tradgedy. Rest assured, these creative couches are not made from coffins that once held the latest victims of father time or unnatural demise. Manufacturer defects from local funeral parlors, sort of like coffin “scratch and dent” models, prevent the 18-gauge steel coffins from being used for services, so the eco-conscious Vidal Hererra, who owns several forensic companies that know preservation, decided to contract with local upholsterers and craftsmen to create life from death, with green-conscious conservation.

Priced at $3,500 each, the couches’ popularity among funeral directors, motorcycle shops, horror enthusiasts, as well as a trend-setting, youthful audience should give you the opportunity to try one out on location, saving yourself the unsettling experience of sitting on one for the first time -all alone, in the dark – at home.
