A building design which called the O-14 Tower which is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is completed designed by the Reiser + Umemoto Architects. The O-14 building consist of a 22-story tall, it is a commercial tower which is perched on a two-story podium. This architectural design is broke ground in February 2007, and it is comprises over 300,000 square feet of the office space for the Dubai Business Bay. Which is occupying a prominent location on the waterfront esplanade, this building is located along the extension of Dubai Creek. The office tower typology has been turned inside out with the O-14 building- the structure and the skin have flipped to offer a new economy of the tectonics and of space.
An efficient structural exoskeleton which is frees the core from the burden of the lateral forces and creates highly efficient, column-free open spaces in the buildings interior, is provided by the concrete shell of the O-14 building. For the building, the exoskeleton of the O-14 is becomes the primary vertical and lateral structure, it is allowing the column-free office slabs to span between it and the minimal core. The core, which is traditionally enlarged to receive the lateral loading in the most curtain wall office towers, can be minimized for only vertical loading, utilities and transportation; it is by moving the lateral bracing for the building to the perimeter. Additionally, to carry the lateral loads to the core, the typical curtain-wall tower configuration is result in floor plates which is must be thickened, yet in this building project, these can be minimized to only respond to span and vibration. Consequently, the future tenants can arrange the flexible floor space according to their individual needs.
The main shell is organized as a diagram. It is the efficiency of which is wed to a system of the continuous variation of the openings, it is always maintaining a minimum structural member, adding the material locally where necessary and taking away where possible. Without changing the basic structural form, this efficiency and the modulation is enables the hell to create a wide range of the atmospheric and visual effects in the structure. It is allowing for the systematic analysis and the construction. As a result, the pattern design is a combination of a capillary branching field, gradients of the vertical articulation, opacity, environmental effects, a structural field and a turbulence field.
